Don’t Miss our Summer Events!

MCG Jazz is thrilled to present six unique programs to be held throughout Western Pennsylvania this summer, including four free events!

Beginning on July 10 with a new initiative at Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, we will offer Jazz is Balance:  Live Jazz & Yoga, a Jazz Is Life® event.   MCG Jazz and local vinyasa yoga teacher LA Finfinger partner for a beginner / all-levels flow style yoga class with live music. Paco Mahone, Bikram yoga teacher and jazz  bassist, will lead the band with vast knowledge of yoga to connect the music to the movement.  Tickets for Jazz & Yoga are $30.   Sponsored by Fill A Seat Pittsburgh with media support from Whirl Publications .

Three years and running, we are partnering with Robert Morris University for what has become the hottest jazz of the summer.  It’s Jazz Attack!  Trumpeter and singer Rick Braun, much-requested saxophonist Euge Groove and guitarist – and MCG Jazz audience favorite – Peter White come together for one stellar jam at the Sewell Center on Friday, July 25 at 7:30 pm.  Tickets for Jazz Attack are $50 for reserved seats and $25 for general admission.

MCG Jazz presents the Pittsburgh Jazz Legends show at the Rivers Casino on Saturday, August 2 at 7:00 pm. Outdoors in the amphitheater, this free concert showcases several of the MCG Jazz Pittsburgh Jazz Legends honorees.

Our collaboration with Allegheny County Parks brings you two BNY Mellon Jazz presents events:  the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra with special guest Paquito D’Rivera at Hartwood Acres on Sunday, July 13 at 7:00 pm and Gloria Reuben and Caribbean Jazz Project at South Park on Friday, August 22 at 7:00 pm.  Both events are free.

Finally, MCG Jazz is honored to be working with the spectacular WaterFire in Sharon, PA to present the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra with special guest Bernie Dresel on August 23 at 5:00 pm.  This unique and beautiful art installation can be seen in only a few cities around the world.  Each day-long event offers music, food and interactive arts experiences; all free of charge to the public.  Actual WaterFire performances begin at dusk.  Fire performers and other event entertainers add to the experience on, and around, the river; all accompanied by a very cool mix of live and recorded music, this year to include the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra.
