18-time Grammy winner Béla Fleck—the world’s premier banjo virtuoso and a celebrated musical adventurer—has both explored his instrument’s complex global history and unlocked the breadth of its possibilities. Fleck brings his latest project to MCG Jazz, featuring acclaimed harpist Edmar Castañeda and drummer Antonio Sánchez for an innovative and dynamic fusion of sounds. 

Clayton Hamilton Jazz Orchestra

Led by bassist John Clayton and drummer Jeff Hamilton, the Clayton Hamilton Jazz Orchestra’s sound is often described as being influenced by Ellington, Basie and Thad Jones. This would never be denied by the orchestra, but one listen lets you know that their voice is unique, distinct and impactful.

Mindi Abair

This musical phenomenon has six virtuosic voices united in crystal clear harmony, against a backdrop of syncopated rhythms, innovative arrangements, and funky grooves that bubble into an intoxicating brew of gospel, jazz, R&B, and pop. A historic favorite among MCG Jazz audiences, the group will return this season with their Christmas special.

Bob James Quartet

The career of pianist, composer, arranger, and jazz fusion icon Bob James is long, varied and continues to evolve at every turn. A legend in his own right, James has used MCG Jazz as an incubator for his ever-evolving artistry, performing here through five distinct eras of his career. This time around, he’ll be joined by his very own quartet.

Endea Owens & the Cookout with Michael Mayo

A double bill of two immensely talented rising stars of jazz! 

Known as one of Jazz’s most vibrant emerging artists, Endea Owens is a Detroit-raised Recording Artist, Bassist, and Composer. She has been mentored by Jazz Icons the likes of Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker, and Ron Carter.  

Michael Mayo stretches his voice through layers of heavenly harmonizing, hard-hitting beatboxing, and heartfelt crooning. LA Weekly called him, “without a doubt the best young male jazz singer in Los Angeles.”

New York Voices Farewell Tour
with special guest Paquito D'Rivera

John Pizzarelli Trio

Guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli has been hailed by the Boston Globe for “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing jazz.” He will grace the stage with his trio, performing his new tribute to Tony Bennett.

An Evening with Tamara Tunie

Enjoy an evening of song and storytelling from our 2025-2026 Artist-in-Residence, Tamara Tunie. Ms. Tunie will wrap up her Artist-In-Residence appointment at MCG Jazz with a celebration of a career that took her from Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music to BEYOND THE GATES.
